You need a working computer or smart device capable of connecting to Blackboard Collaborate or Zoom. You will also need a working headphone with microphone attached and a webcam.
How much time should I expect to spend working on course work each week?
That varies greatly between students but the average student should expect to spend approximately 5-10 hours a week on each course.
What are some tips for successfully using Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom, or other synchronous online class tools?
Make sure you have your microphone muted in the class unless you are going to talk in that minute otherwise it creates a lot of feedback. Make sure you are in a room with a lot of light to make sure you are visible on camera.
